This is one picture from a small collection I’ve put together in my portfolio of birds of prey – the superb American Eagle. The photographs were taken at various places in Ireland, sometimes with the help of handlers who were good enough to hold black material or paper behind the birds for me. This is one of our new bantams. Well we have them a few months now and got our first egg yesterday. Am very proud. *update* Well the cockeral himself didn’t win an award but I’m delighted to say that his picture (taken by moi) was the photo of the day on pix.ie last week. Made my day. I was taking pictures of the hens while my husband was holding up black material behind them as we followed them around the garden. I’m sure we used a couple of months worth of bird seed trying to get them to stand one by one an old wooden picnic bench.
