This is one picture from a small collection I’ve put together in my portfolio of birds of prey – the superb American Eagle. The photographs were taken at various places in Ireland, sometimes with the help of handlers who were good enough to hold black material or paper behind the birds for me. I’m kind of embarrassed to say I don’t know if this is a hawk or an eagle (National Geographic puts down the phone), but I do know this is a beautiful bird and it kills and eats small animals.
