Battle Of The Boyne

Last Sunday, myself and Jason went along to the Battle Of The Boyne site near Drogheda as part of the lovely Peter Donegan’s Garden Group. This is the third outing that Peter has organised and it was great as always. The Battle Of The Boyne site is run by the Office Of Public Works and it is set in spectacular surroundings. There are walkways, picnic tables, living history performances and a visitor centre with information about the Battle and its history.
We were blessed with the weather and our guides Aisling and Paul from the OPW brought us around the gardens to show us the mammoth task they are undertaking in restoring the grounds and buildings. I also REALLY enjoyed the living history performances which take place every weekend.
If you haven’t been to the Battle Of The Boyne site, I can highly recommend it. You can see more of my living history photographs here and a few pics taken around the grounds here.

Love these Jennifer. Pity I didn’t know about your wee trip. This place is only 10 mins from my house.
Thanks Shane, much appreciated. They have the living history every weekend for the summer. Check the web site – http://www.battleoftheboyne.ie/ for more info. I think on some weekends the living history is more elaborate than others.
Love the second shot of the rifleman (pardon the pun). Looks like a good day was had by all.
Thanks a million Denis. Yes it was a good day, well worth a visit.
Fantastic shots
James.
